2004 Busan International Architectural Competition

Projektbeschreibung:

Installation of an Ecological Center that will be placed in the Nakdong River Area of Busan.

The 'Eco-center' is to serve as a center for a natural reservation and an ecological education facility for the southern part of South Korea. The Eco-center will show how human beings can live harmoniously with the natural environment. At the same time, this facility will be an interpretive center for the past, the present and the future ecological conditions of the Nakdong River area. In order to educate people regarding the relationships between living things and nonliving things and the relationships between human beings and the natural environment exhibits will be arranged around the site. In this manner this facility will play a central role as an educational institution that demonstrates how a heavily developed natural environment can be a critical disaster for both human beings and nature. At the same time, this facility will show how people and nature can co-exist with harmony. Thus, it is the desire of the Busan International Competition to encourage the design of a building that fulfills the vision of a positive co-existence of human beings and nature.
