Future hospitals: competitive and healing

The assignment is to design an innovative hospital concept within an urban context, in which the hospital achieves expression as a people and society-focused enterprise, and which also anticipates current and future developments.
At the same time, contenders are also asked to further elaborate on one or more themes within the hospital concept. These themes are: Patient logistics (optimal accommodation of the various patient flows), (de)concentration of functions, flexibility, healing environment and minimised expenditure (energy-efficiency and sustainability. You will find a complete description of the themes in the competition programme.
The hospital, with both clinical and outpatient services, provides health care to approximately 150,000 residents. With a bed ratio of 2 per thousand residents (a normal ratio in The Netherlands) the clinical capacity will amount to 300 beds.
